Reportedly, the girl has alleged that when she approached the police to lodge the complaint, the police officials refused to take any action. This is a very serious matter. The Delhi Commission for Women Act, 1994 mandates the Commission to investigate and examine all matters relating to the safeguards provided for women under the Constitution and give recommendations to the government on the issue of women s safety, said DCW s notice.

The residents here alleged that several incidents of snatching have taken place in the area but still Delhi police have not intensified patrolling. However, police said that patrolling is going on in the area and they are doing their best to combat these incidents.

She was coming home from a market and was holding her child when the incident occurred. An FIR has been registered, but no arrest has been made till now. Further investigation of the case is underway, the police said.

Earlier today, the DCP of Northwest Usha Rangnani had informed that ten police teams have been constituted to probe the case.
