At long-last, 2020 draws to a close

Itemizer-Observer POLK COUNTY — The year 2020 has been slow, frustrating and painful. Our country, county and cities felt the grip of a pandemic; witnessed the passion — and occasional violence — of a continued fight for racial justice; and endured unprecedented devastation due to wildfire. That, plus a contentious presidential election, all in one year. That 2020 is reaching its end is a relief to all who have lived through this time that has tested our limits financially and mentally, and questioned how far we have come in the battle for racial equity. We had lock downs, social distancing, mask requirements, distance learning and work from home. We had debates and protests over those mandates. We suffered for not seeing our friends and loved ones. Businesses struggled to survive — and some did not — during stay at home orders and mandatory closures.
