Town of Wellsville appoints new tax collector after resignation Boehl appointed tax collector following Deborah Ramsey s resignation The Wellsville Daily Reporter WELLSVILLE The Town of Wellsville will have a new tax collector in 2021, but not the one elected by voters in November. Deborah Ramsey submitted her letter of resignation to the town board with a sad heart this week. Ramsey, a Democrat, was elected to the position for the first time in November, picking up over 90% of the vote. However, she obtained fulltime employment that would prevent her from meeting the town s expectation of 20-25 hours of office availability. The town board held an emergency special meeting to fill the sudden vacancy this week. The board appointed Sally Boehl as tax collector for the brief remainder of 2020 and will have to reappoint her at the first meeting of 2021.

Fire contract issue rekindles for town, village of Wellsville Town council uncomfortable with lack of a ratified contract The Wellsville Daily Reporter WELLSVILLE A contract for fire protection service to the liking of the village, town and the Wellsville Fire Department doesn’t appear to be waiting under the 2020 Christmas tree. A matter of contention for several years, Town Supervisor Shad Alsworth brought up the issue at this week’s meeting of the town council. Village trustee Mike Roeske, the liaison to the town, informed the council that the 2020 contract has not been ratified. “The village board approved it, the fire companies did not,” Roeske said. “Two of them didn’t. You have to have four because that’s the way the law reads.”
