Winter Storm Closes Roads in California, Nevada and Arizona

A winter storm dumping snow and rain Monday is making travel difficult in California, Nevada and Arizona.
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced several highways were closed because of extreme winter conditions. They were State Route 260, between Star Valley and Heber; State Route 87 northbound, north of Payson; and State Route 89A, between Sedona and Interstate 17 Motorists are urged to postpone travel in the high country until the storm has passed, the department said in a news release.
The National Weather Service office in Flagstaff said about 1:15 p.m. MST that visibility had decreased significantly and travel was becoming more dangerous on Interstate 40.
