Poor connectivity affecting Jal Jeevan Mission scheme implementation in Nagaland

Our Reporter Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Minister of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Jacob Zhimomi, on Wednesday, said 40% of the population in the state does not have an Aadhaar card, which is mandatory to avail the functional household tap connection (FHTC) under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme. He also said that there are communication issues (telecommunication and transportation) in rural areas, as the department is required to upload geotagging ‘but there is poor connectivity’. Briefing the media on Wednesday, after the review meeting on implementation of JJM and Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, Zhimomi said the JJM scheme is challenging in Nagaland due to its topography, “but nonetheless the department has performed well and we have crossed 50.28% as of September 27, and our target is to reach at least 60% by December, 2022. Entrepreneurship awareness programmes held at Wokha, Tseminyu

Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): The MSME Development and Facilitation office, Dimapur, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in association with District Industries Centre and Business Association of Nagas (BAN), organised one-day entrepreneurship awareness programmes at Tseminyu and Wokha on August 29 and 30, respectively. Speaking as the chief guest at the programme held at Tseminyu, DC Tseminyu, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, said that he aspires the recently created district to be developed as a model district and a business hub. The DC said the MSME sector is very important as it contribute more than 29% to the GDP and also responsible for 50% of the country’s total exports. NPP Nagaland holds consultative meeting in Noklak

Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN):  The National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland state team, during the 10th leg of its district tour, held a consultative meeting with NPP Noklak district unit at Tourist Lodge in Noklak town on August 24. NPP Nagaland stated that the meeting was attended by officials of the state as well as the Noklak district frontal bodies including women and youth wings along with prospective candidates for the upcoming 2023 assembly election from various constituencies of Noklak district, an update from NPP Nagaland stated. “It was overwhelming to note that within a short notice of just five days, a huge turnout of around 180 people from various constituencies attended the meeting.
