Twitter India is fishing in troubled waters since it marked tweets of BJP ministers as “manipulated media”. Responding to the recent Delhi Police raid to its IT office, the microblogging platform on Thursday (May 27) said that it is deeply committed to the people of India.

New Delhi: Hours after social media major Twitter released a statement citing a threat to freedom of expression and intimidation by the authorities, the Delhi Police on Thursday (May 27) rebutted the claims and made counter-allegations of their own.
Calling the conduct of Twitter obfuscatory, diversionary and tendentious, the Delhi Police said that the statements released by the company are “not only mendacious but designed to impede a lawful inquiry by a private enterprise.”
“We have come across press reports that quote Twitter Inc. statements pertaining to the ongoing inquiry by Delhi Police. Prima facie, these statements are not only mendacious but designed to impede a lawful inquiry by a private enterprise. Twitter Inc. has taken upon itself, in the garb of terms of service, to adjudicate the truth or otherwise of documents in public space,�
Amid the ongoing "toolkit" row, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said the parliamentary panel on information and technology had written to the IT ministry over its communication with Twitter on the ''manipulated media" issue and received a reply on it.
BJP leaders, including Patra, have posted numerous tweets to attack Congress over the purported 'toolkit'. On May 19, the Congress lodged a police complaint seeking registration of cases against BJP chief JP Nadda, Union minister Smriti Irani, BJP general secretary B L Santosh and Patra over the alleged forgery of documents.
