Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade edged its arch-rival Partizan mts Belgrade 78-79 in a thriller to reach the final of the Serbian Cup where it will face Mega Soccerbet Belgrade on Sunday. Partizan built an early lead hitting five triples in the first quarter, including two apiece from Marcus Paige and Ognjen Jaramaz, and one from Josh Perkins to open the second quarter made it 30-22. Aleksa Uskokovic and Dejan Davidovac helped Zvezda close the deficit, and Jordan Loyd scored from long range, but Rade Zagorac, Paige and Jaramaz kept Partizan s lead safe. Partizan led 46-40 at halftime, and a triple from Dangubic made it 51-40 early in the third. Zvezda replied with three triples, one apiece from Uskoovic, Johnny O Bryant and Davidovac to get within 53-51. Baskonia bounces back at home
TD Systems Baskonia returned to winning ways by downing Zalgiris Kaunas 81-68 at Buesa Arena on Friday. Baskonia improved to 10-13 to stop a four-game losing streak. Zalgiris dropped to 13-10 but remains in playoffs territory. Pierria Henry paced the winners with 19 points. Alec Peters added 15, Luca Vildoza had 14 and Tonye Jekiri 10 for Baskonia. Marius Grigonis led Zalgiris with 17 points. Thomas Walkup added 14 and Joffrey Lauvergne 12 for the guests. Baskonia led 21-20 after 10 minutes, extending its margin to 45-36 at halftime and then again to 61-48 at the end of the third quarter to keep full control of the game until the final buzzer.
ASVEL rallies to sink Baskonia
LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne used a strong defensive third-quarter performance to rally from a double-digit halftime deficit before holding off visiting TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz 83-77 on Wednesday night at the Astroballe. The win improved ASVEL s record to 8-14, one behind Baskonia which dropped to 9-13 on the season. The visitors controlled things in the first half, opening up a 20-34 lead early in the second quarter, and holding a 35-46 lead at halftime. But Norris Cole got ASVEL going in the third quarter, during which the hosts allowed only 7 points. Matthew Strazel and David Lighty kept making big shots to help ASVEL go in front and take a double-digit lead as Baskonia never came close enough the rest of the way. Lighty finished with 21 points and Cole scored 20, while William Howard added 10 points in the winning effort.
