The Des Moines Police for eleven years. Police say greene fired 15 to 30 shots into the squad cars with a 22caliber gun. Beth, there is a squad car draped in black with bouquets of flowes similar memorials sprang up in urbandale and south of the Merle Hay Mall where the two officers died in their squad cars. While Police Caught the alleged shooter shortly after 9 00 oclock this morning the investigation is far from over. Warrant here at a home owned by the suspects mother. One neighbor says this is where the suspect and his family lived as well. At the morning news conference, officers called it a terrible day with no easy explanations. What we can tell looking at the scene is it appears neither officer had an opportunity to interact with the suspects it doesnt look like there was an exchange of conversation there definitely

At a briefing following the capture, police said greene became a person of interest very quickly. It was somebody who was known to Law Enforcement. Th e leads we started developing at the scene pointed us in his direction more leads came in an detectives determined he was somebody we wanted to talk to. Police say the suspect fired multiple times at each officer apparently giving he gravel road just off i80 about 35 miles west of the shooting. Urbandale authorities, who searched the home where greene lived today, said theyd had run ins with the suspect before including just a few weeks ago at the High School Football field. Greene was in the stands displaying a Confederate Flag when he was escorted out. My son called me to have me pick him up early from the football game. It apparently involved a Confederate Flag and he wouldnt police say they arent sure if that inciden

Shots were fired just after 1 00 a. M. And thats when investigators found officer martin gunned down in his vehicle. 20 minutes later, just 2 miles way, they found sergeants beminio shot as well. He was taken to the hospital and did not make it. The officers had no warning about what was coming.
