Life in the small towns of the American south is known for its slow pace. For Larry Hughes, justice would also move slowly, with 26 years passing before anyone was arrested for his murder.
Larry was born in 1946 and grew up in Pulaski, Tennessee, about 80 miles south of Nashville. He was well known throughout Giles County, which runs along the Alabama border.
Maury County man charged with falsifying military record

A Maury County man has been sentenced to a year in jail for falsifying his own military service record including the conditions of his discharge in a case of Stolen Valor.
Chris Wesley Williams, 59, appeared before Circuit Court Judge Stella Hargrove in Columbia on Tuesday where he received a maximum sentence of 11 months and 29 days in jail along with a consecutive maximum probation of 11 months and 29 days after making false claims on his military record with the United States Marines.
“I hope this sends a message to anyone else out there that has lied about military service that it will not be tolerated in this district,” said Brent Cooper, the local district attorney whose office prosecuted the case.
