SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Peopleâs Promise, an advocacy organization working to demand justice for lives lost at the hands of law enforcement, is marching for justice Saturday, May 1.
Beginning at 12 p.m., organizers will march from 1310 North Hearne Ave. to the Caddo Correctional Center, which is just over a mile away.
Robert Tyler, vice president of the Peopleâs Promise, wants local law enforcement to clearly understand his groupâs message.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) Shreveport organizations are sharing their reactions after guilty verdicts were returned in the trial of of Derek Chauvin.
Michael R. La’Fitte II, president of the NAACP’s Shreveport chapter, issued the following statement:
“For the past week the right to breathe has been on trial! While justice landed Derek Chauvin behind bars for murdering George Floyd, no amount of justice will bring Gianna’s father back. We will not rest until all in our community have the right to breathe.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - This weekend in Shreveport, the community will come together to remember Tommie McGlothen, Jr.
Candlelight vigil, walk planned for Tommie McGlothen, Jr.
The candlelight vigil and walk will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April, 10 under the Texas Street Bridge in downtown Shreveport.
McGlothen was the man who allegedly died while in the custody of Shreveport police in April 2020.
