Who was Patricia Spoonheim? Montana music icon also known as Piano Pat dies at 85

Who was Piano Pat? Piano Pat was a popular fixture at the Sip N Dip since 1963, a year after the Motor Inn opened. She was hired as a fill-in for a piano player who went on vacation but he never returned to town cementing Pat s position at the lounge permanently. Pat had been a performer at the lounge for more than five decades and even though she cut down on her appearances in the current years but when she did, it was always a full house.  This is my living room. It s more like my home. I m just comfortable here, she once said about the lounge that turned her into a celebrity. A Rudyard native, Spoonheim began playing the piano since she was 12 years old. She was a single mom of three kids with a day job for 35 years as a medical transcriptionist at the Great Falls Clinic.

Loyalists in Northern Ireland feel betrayed and we are witnessing the consequences playing out in rising anger and violence. The protocol is now enshrined in legislation and all interested parties have an obligation to

Letters: Dislike of Boris Johnson is no reason to destroy Scotland

RUTH Marr (Letters, April 6) tells us that everything is rosy in the field of education in Scotland. Yet in December 2019 John Swinney admitted that four children out of 10 from Scotland’s poorest areas are leaving primary school without achieving expected literacy levels. This means that they are going into secondary school with one hand tied behind their backs. Is it then not unexpected that they also underperform in secondary? In the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) Scotland’s record in the subjects of reading, maths and the sciences has plummeted to pre-2012 levels. In the Scottish Parliament, these figures were described as shameful, appalling, and damming. Mr Swinney has been a disaster for Scotland’s education system and really should be considering his position. We used to have the best universities in the world, but now we only have one in the world top 30.

Ted Surely Was Good for Everton

Ted Surely Was Good for Everton Injury problems had seriously weakened the Everton line-up as they met on the concourse of Lime Street Station in preparation for their tour of London. The date was 13 January 1891. Skipper Andrew Hannah and Alec Brady were unfit following the 1-0 home defeat by Preston North End while the squad was further weakened by the loss of Fred Geary who had been called back to his native Nottinghamshire because of a family bereavement. Hope Robertson, Tom Wylie and Donald McLean replaced them in readiness for their first game which was to be against the Corinthians at the Kennington Oval.
