Three fires killing six people since 11 00 last night. The commissioner saying we all need to be better prepared. The first fire just after 11 00 friday on the 1700 block of moore in south philly. A man and a woman killed in this threestory row home which had six smoke alarms but none with working batteries. The second fire breaking out in norristown around 4 00 a. M. This threestory twin home in the 800 block of dekalb street with witnesses saying people were trapped and screa
Today we were following along with the National Weather Service Crews as they surveyed the damage. Meteorologist Jennifer Mcdermed caught up with them in knoxville as they measured the strength of the storm there. In knoxville at the walmart on the south side of town where we joined one of two of the National Weather Service Survey damage teams. The nws has confirmed that an ef1 tornado did damage to the building. Which included roof damage, a trailer being tipped over, and debris scattered in a field behind the walmart. A brief tornado was noticed and Weather Observers working in the control tower at the des moines airport, and those observers say thats exactly why its a bad idea to 56 other observation teams across the country. The faa is trying to trim weather observation teams at airports in the us where the duties can be shifted to the air Traffic Control team. You can imagine how the observers feel about this. Especially during bad weather busy, air Traffic Control is also busy.
