The Sioux City Police department about the vehicles and vehicular burglaries in the past year. Jessica rae according to Sioux City Police, vehicles were stolen in 2014. Been 207 vehiclele passing the previous years totals with two months left yet in 2015. Vehicle thefts primarily focused the morningside and north side several of the vehicles stolen have been unlocked with keys left inside. The Sioux City Police department is reminding to always lock your vehicle and never leave your keys inside it. Also, any valuable items should be stowed away, hidden from view or stored in a more secure location. And with the cold winter months approaching, do not leave your unattended as this makes things even easisi for thieves. Jessica rae voters are hitting the polls in sioux city today. Advising people to take steps to prevent these thefts from continuing. Jenna though this is the time of year when temperatures go down and then so usually does crime. That doesnt seem to be happening this year. Reporter rachel ramos tells us about the rise in car thefts in sioux city. Rachel jenna, tim, there has been a dramatic increase in the recorded amount of stolen vehicles over the past several weeks. I spoke with detective jeff harstad of the Sioux City Police deptment who filled us in on why there has been a sudden spike. These recent Motor Vehicle thefts have been primarily occuring within the morningside area. The local law enforement has opened a few doors to a couple theories on why people have been chosing to steal cars more recently. We have people who have been stealing vehicles for financial gain and then were also having people stealing vehicles for joyriding purposes, said detective jeff harstad of Sioux City Police department. The Sioux City Police department reminds
