Kevin good morning, all. Yesterday the country paused to recognize our nations veterans. On behalf of the entire republican conference, i want to express our heartfelt appreciation to every veteran who served our country. Their commitment to service and the love of the country exemplifies the very best of america. They deserve leaders in washington who will hold the line and do their part in protecting our individual liberties at home. That is why i could not be prouder of the House Republicans and those who are joining us in the next country. Congress. It will be the most diverse class weve ever had. One is this monumental biography of Frederick Douglass, probably the definitive biography of Frederick Douglass especially with what is going on in the United States in terms of the fight for Racial Justice nobody was more consequential and has been more consequential on the question of race in america than Frederick Douglass, way ahead of his time. He was not only in abolitionist and passionate abolitionist as a former slave but he insisted from the earliest time in the 1840s right through his death toward the end of the Nineteenth Century that equality was the goal and he would brooke no deviation from that. Very clear what the goal was. So many of his words ring true today and i really recommend the biography. It is a long read but really powerful. Guest one of the things i learned about Frederick Douglass is he was also a very active suffragist. Absolutely. Very consistent and had a distinguished career and was able to talk to a mixedrace

Its a wonderful. About a guy that i consider literally the greatest person in the 20th century and the supreme ordeal. And then ive also been reading, i just picked up the greatest story by the name of gene edward smith, great dr. For her. I have read is either phase grant and eisenhower. Eisenhower is by far the best eisenhower biography ever written and thereve been some good ones but he died in 2019 so right now i just got into what may have been his best book on fdr something called which americans historians chooses the best book of the year so its been around for a while and one of those books thats been sitting on my bookshelf and i just have not got
