This past weekend, the main fight on the UFC Vegas 26 prelims played host to some controversy when Randa Markos was disqualified in the first round of her bout with Luana Pinheiro for throwing an illegal upkick that rendered Pinheiro unable to continue. After the bout, Markos accused Pinheiro of taking a dive to get the win, a belief shared by several other fans and fighters. Notably though, it’s a view that is not shared by one of the men closest to the action on Saturday night.
UFC Hall of Famer and current color commentator Michael Bisping was sitting cageside for the fight between Pinheiro and Markos and the former middleweight champion believes Pinheiro truly was unable to continue, even if the incident looked a little weird.

Middleweights KB Bhullar and Andreas Michailidis took centre stage on the UFC Vegas 25 prelims on Saturday. Bhullar was looking to get his first win in the UFC after coming off his UFC debut back in 2020, a loss to Tom Breese.
Andreas Michailidis, was also looking to get his first UFC victory after getting stopped by Modestas Bukauskas in his freshman outing in the promotion in 2020.
Michailidis opened up swinging big, looking to get the knockout early against Bhullar. Throwing massive winging shots, Michailidis hurt Bhullar halfway through the round.
The controversial moment came after both fighters went to the ground. Markos, on her back, caught Pinheiro, who was on her knees, with an up-kick to the face. Referee Mark Smith immediately halted the fight with the stunned Brazilian on her back.
The 35-year-old from Windsor, Ont., immediately held out her hand as an apology. Because the Brazilian was on her knees, she was considered a downed opponent and as such the kick was illegal.
The fight was the featured bout on the undercard prior to the main card at the UFC s Apex production facility. The main event pitted Dominick (The Devastator) Reyes, ranked third among light-heavyweight contenders, against No 5 Jiri (Denisa) Prochazka of the Czech Republic.
