Laurie Kunz is running for re-election to her two-year term on the Manchester, Vermont, Selectboard. Manchester resident Jonathan West is challenging Kunz for the seat.

MANCHESTER â The Select Board appointed Laurie Kunz to fill the vacant seat on the board at its meeting Tuesday.
Kunz will fill the vacant spot created when Todd Nebraska stepped down March 19 because he and his family were moving out of Manchester.
The board has operated with just four members for the past two months as they sought a replacement.
The board held interviews with candidates recently and Select Board chair Ivan Beattie said he was impressed with all of the candidates and hoped those not chosen would perhaps stay engaged and consider service in another capacity.

Manchester Select Board member Todd Nebraska recently tendered his resignation and has stepped down creating an opening on the five-person board.
Nebraskaâs work has taken him out of town and he has often been attending Zoom meetings from hotel rooms.
But in his resignation letter to board chair Ivan Beattie, he said his family is moving out of Manchester.
âAs I discussed with you, Terri and I have decided to relocate to Middlebury to be closer to my work,â Nebraska said.
His resignation was effective March 19.
âIt has been an honor to be entrusted by the voters of Manchester to represent their interests on the Select Board,â Nebraska wrote. âI wish nothing but the best for the Town and I will always have fond memories of my time serving on both the Select Board and Planning Commission.â

MANCHESTER â The Select Board agreed Tuesday to continue its loosened restrictions on businesses instituted last year early in the pandemic.
Referred to as its COVID-19 relief for businesses, the Select Board voted last year to grant some leeway to businesses who found their dining rooms closed by the government-ordered shutdown to help fight the spread of the virus.
Business owners were allowed to move some seating outside if feasible. The effort to get more people outside and spread out mean that businesses could, in some cases, use some of their parking lot for outdoor dining, as well as sidewalks.
