Downtown PG, Chamber of Commerce welcome modifications to Business Recovery Grant

Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO Todd Corrigall believes a little bit more could have been done to revamp the Business Recovery Grant from the province.
The previous requirement for a business to have experienced at least a 70% revenue loss at some point in March or April of last year has been adjusted.
Now, a business is required to demonstrate only a 30% revenue loss in any one month between last March to the point of application.
Corrigall told MyPGNow.com while the application process remains cumbersome for many businesses, there is one adjustment that could make life a lot easier.

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce is continuing to bang the drum on supporting its members during BC Chamber Week.
The chamber has held numerous events to place the spotlight on local storefronts including the Business Excellence Awards and the Support PG campaign.

“The strength of being able to say five, six, seven hundred or even a thousand members in our network when we speak with the government is a very powerful statement. So the more businesses that are apart of our network, the stronger our fight becomes on behalf of everybody.”

Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO Todd Corrigall believes local businesses are hurting at the same rate as their provincial counterparts during the pandemic.
Corrigall told
MyPGNow.com while the federal assistance programs have been a big help, the provincial government could be doing a lot more.

“There has been these historic over-payments to WorkSafeBC and the government has known about this since before the last provincial election and there has been no movement in getting that money back to businesses so that they can implement the proper safety protocols to bring back as many customers as possible.”
