Two Malayali women among three quizzed by NIA in IS module case

According to sources, NIA has interrogated three persons including the women as part of the  probe. The case pertains to an IS module formed by a Malayali named Mohammed Ameen, alias Abu Yahya. The group had identified certain individuals in Kerala and Karnataka for targeted killings. They had also planned to undertake ‘hijrat’ (religious migration) to Kashmir for engaging in terrorist acts.

Renovated children s park in Kochi to open soon- The New Indian Express

Express News Service KOCHI: The renovated Indira Priyadarshini Park, more commonly known as the Ernakulam Children’s Park, would be thrown open to public within the next few weeks. According to officials concerned, the plan is to complete the renovation work in next two weeks. The park, located near the Marine Drive and the Ernakulam boat jetty, is closed since 2018. KEL (Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co Ltd) is tasked with the `4 crore renovation. “The Covid-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown delayed renovation work. As per the earlier plan, the park was to be reopened in 2020. Now the work is in full swing. KEL authorities and the contractor have promised us to complete the work by February 15. Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) also has assured to complete the work in front of the park before February 15,” said Ernakulam MLA T J Vinod, who is also the chairman of the project’s work monitoring committee.

NIA suspects Vijith Vijayan used to translate radical literature to Malayalam

Express News Service KOCHI: The  National Investigation Agency (NIA) suspects that 26-year-old Vijith Vijayan, who was arrested on Thursday in connection with the Pantheerankavu Unlawful Atrocities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) case, was working with the publication wing of the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation and used to translate radical Maoist literature from English to Malayalam. Vijith, who has been named the fourth accused in the case, had also allegedly played a key role in propagating the radical ideology among youths. Meanwhile, the agency has arraigned Vijith’s friend Eldho Wilson, who is yet to be arrested, as the fifth accused. The case pertains to the arrest of students Thwaha Fasal and Alan Suhaib from Pantheerankavu in November 2019, for allegedly holding a clandestine Maoist meeting outside a shop in Kozhikode. The third accused C P Usman, who is still absconding, purportedly managed to flee when the police patrolling team reached the spot.

The study, conducted by Kochi-based cybersecurity firm Technisanct after receiving frequent complaints from the victims, shows that such apps are directly linked to Chinese firms that can easily leak personal details, including banking activities, of a person.“The research by our team showed that the apps were apparently China-based firms’ plans to place India under surveillance and destabilise our financial security,” said Technisanct CEO Nandakishore Harikumar.
