then, you said at some point, there was a telephone conversation between the president and the vice president? is that correct? yes. when i entered the office, the second time, he was on the phone with who i later found out to be the vice president. did you hear the vice president, or only hear the president s end? only hear the president s end. it was a calmer tone and then became heated. the conversation was pretty heated. did you hear any part of the phone call? like the end of the president. as i was drops off the note, i remember hearing the word wimp. e called him a wimp. i don t remember him saying you will be a wimp. it s been reported that the president said to the vice president, something to the effect of you don t have the courage to make a hard decision. i remember it was something like that, yeah. being not tough enough to make the call. the wording is wrong. i made the wrong decision four or five years ago. the word that the president call
or five years ago. the word that she relayed to the president called the vice president, a apologized for being impolite. do you remember what the president called him? the p word. mr. jacob, how do you describe the demeanor of the vice president following that call with the president? when he came back in to the room, i d say he was steely, determined, grim. of course, the most dangerous part of what donald trump did on january 6th was what he did himself. as will be discussed in detail in a future hearing, our investigation found that early drafts of the january 6 elipse speech prepared for the president included no mention of the vice president. the president revised it to include criticism of the vice president and then further ad libbed. here s what the president said january 6 after his call with vice president pence. i hope mike will do the right thing. i hope so. i hope so. because if mike pence does the right thing, we win the election. all vice preside

tonight, the january 6th hearings. good evening. thank you so much for being here with us tonight. we know that you have a lot of options for where to watch and how to watch tonight s hearing. it makes us all the more grateful that you have chosen to be here with us on msnbc. i m rachel maddo with joy reid. tonight is a big night for us. a big night for american democracy. we have had a few other instances in our modern history of big, public hearings. all the networks scuttling their schedules to air the proceedings live, but none of us have ever covered something quite like this before. the january 6th investigation is about the first time in american history that the transfer of power between presidents was not peaceful. tonight in the ornate cannon caucus room inside the u.s. capitol the january 6 ths investigators said they would give them a skralg amount. the investigators plan to show video footage from the attack that s never been seen by the public before, including
