Learn from the tragedies
On May 4, 1970, Ohio National Guard soldiers fired 67 shots into a crowd of student anti-war protesters at Kent State University, killing four and wounding 13 others, with one left paralyzed as a result of his injuries. Students had been protesting President Richard Nixon’s announcement that the U.S. had secretly been bombing neutral Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam War.
