Initially, they were both school teachers. You could be a schoolteacher at that time with just a Junior College education. My dad did not stay in teaching, because he discovered that what was listed on his contract as his per month payment was not the same as he was receiving. This was at a time when the boards of education for all composed of waste men, and so at the end of the year my father approached a person who was a scientist voucher for a payment. He said i noticed that there is a discrepancy here. It was a five dollar difference between what he was supposed to be paid and what he was receiving. For two decades she lived abroad first as a soldier in the United States army serving in germany and later as a teacher in International Schools in europe, africa and asia.
