The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. Feb. 21 in the 4400 block of Watercrest Road.
Anthony Newton, 25, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
The case was presented to the grand jury on May 5 and charged 21-year-old Gregory Ellis with tampering with or fabricating evidence, Killeen PD spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said in a news release.
So far, there have been five homicides in the city, two of which have not returned criminal charges.
The other homicide that has not resulted in a criminal charge was the Jan. 10 fatal shooting of Patrick Warren Sr.

A Killeen man is believed to have shot and killed his wife late Tuesday night before turning the gun on himself, taking his own life.
According to a press release from the Killeen Police Department, a couple was having a domestic dispute when things took a horrible turn.
Officials arrived at the couple s home in the 3900 block of Tatonka Drive at 11:54 PM Tuesday, February 23 after receiving a 911 call in reference to a shooting.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the female victim and the male were involved in a domestic disturbance when the male produced a handgun and shot his wife. The male was in the garage when officers arrived. Police say he shot himself while police were at the scene.

KILLEEN, TX â Killeen Police say a late-night domestic disturbance has led to two people deceased.
Police were dispatched to the 3900 block of Tatonka Drive at 11:54 p.m., on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, after receiving a call in reference to a shooting.

According to police, three children were in the residence and they were unharmed.
