Body Found; Identified As Warren Man | News, Sports, Jobs

bferry@timesobserver.com WARREN, Pa. A body found last week in the Allegheny River in Warren County has been identified as that of a man previously reported missing. John C. Nelson, 55, of Warren, was confirmed following a Monday autopsy. “Following an autopsy performed by Erie County Medical Examiner Dr. (Eric) Vey, the body recovered from the Allegheny River last Friday has been identified as Mr. John Christopher Nelson, who had been missing from Warren since Feb. 5, 2021,” City of Warren Police Chief Joe Sproveri said. “The reported cause of death was determined to be drowning. No foul play is suspected and the investigation into this incident is closed.”

bferry@timesobserver.com There were 17 new cases of COVID-19 in Warren County and two more deaths announced on Wednesday. The totals as of Wednesday’s report from the Pennsylvania Department of Health included 1,889 cases and 75 deaths. The new cases include 10 confirmed and seven probables. At Warren General Hospital, there were 30 COVID-positive patients, none in intensive care, and none on ventilators. The total number of patients is up three from Tuesday and up seven compared to Monday. There were about 6,000 new cases state-wide in Wednesday’s data. There had been 689,913 confirmed cases in the state and another 93,257 probables as of Wednesday.
