(WMBF) - Tidelands Health confirmed its first diagnosed case of COVID-19 on March 16, 2020. Since then, hundreds of people in the Grand Strand area have died from the virus. “We had 771 COVID deaths across the Grand Stand and almost 200 of those [people] were from Tidelands Health,” said Tidelands Health Chief Operating Officer Gayle Resetar. With over 700 luminaries, Tidelands Health honored their memories Tuesday night at four campuses during the ““Lights to Remember, Hope for Tomorrow” ceremony.

Tidelands Health announced on Monday that it has adjusted its visitor policy but while still mainting strict precautions to protect the health of patients, visitors and staff. The changes have been made due to the decline in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations along with rising vaccination numbers. “We are moving forward with updates to our visitor policy after careful evaluation,” said Dr. Gerald Harmon, vice president of medical affairs. “The well-being of our patients, team members and visitors remains our top priority.”

(WCSC) - Deputies are searching for a driver after a woman was stabbed then dragged by a car in Georgetown County on Friday afternoon. It happened outside a home on Jeremiah Drive in Plantersville. Officials with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said it was initially reported as someone getting hit by a car, however deputies also learned that the victim was also stabbed. According to the sheriff’s office, the incident involved two women who live at the same address.

(WMBF) – Tidelands Health officials announced Thursday they are developing plans for a state-of-the-art medical park in Carolina Forest. According to a press release, the planned 34,000-square-foot facility will be located at the corner of Carolina Forest Boulevard and Revolutionary War Way. It will be home to physician offices and outpatient services. The Horry County Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a rezoning of the five-acre property for the office. Officials also pointed out that this area would be used strictly for medical offices, and would be too small to accommodate a hospital.
