Meta launched its Twitter competitor, ‘Threads,’ on July 5, 2023. The platform aims to allow users to share text updates and join public conversations. Anyone can post up to 500 characters long, and include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length.
Twitter founder Jack Dorsey was left unmoved by a follow request from Mark Zuckerberg Sunday - days after slamming the Facebook creator s brand-social media app as a copy of his own.
As tens of millions of people begin using Threads, Meta's rival to Twitter, police and emergency response agencies across Canada are considering embracing the new text-based app.
