The Thornbury Pier Resurfacing Project has been delayed.
The Town of the Blue Mountains says this comes as a result of the required measures to be taken related to COVID-19.
The Town says on Tuesday, April 20th, it was informed by Brook Restoration Ltd. the crew working on the project have been identified as close contacts to an individual that tested positive for COVID-19.
As a result, and in accordance with public health protocols, the construction site has been temporarily shut down.
The Town says it has confirmed the contractors worked exclusively within the fenced construction site and it is believed they did not have any interactions outside their crew.

Reconstruction of the Thornbury Pier is underway.
Town of the Blue Mountains staff advise a contract has been awarded to Brook Restoration and crews started the job on Friday. It’s expected to be complete by May 31.
“The Town is pleased to have a contractor in place and ready to start work on the Pier to ensure that it is open, safe and ready for public use this summer,” says Mayor Alar Soever. “The Pier is an iconic landmark in Thornbury, and this resurfacing project will ensure that it remains safe for residents and youth to enjoy for years to come”.
