PITTSFIELD â It wasnât just the bar-top dancing. Repeated infractions before that incident this month at Methuselah Bar & Lounge will cost it a month of operation, followed by another month of curtailed entertainment.
In issuing a penalty Thursday, the Licensing Boardâs chairman noted that while bar owner Yuki Cohen wracked up multiple pandemic-era safety violations, other city establishments closed for good. âThe reason why theyâve gone under is that theyâve complied with Covid orders,â Chairman Thomas Campoli told Cohen and the board.
Sounding off as well were other restaurant and bar owners in Pittsfield, who sought to see Cohenâs license revoked.
The Licensing Board on Thursday unanimously voted to suspend Methuselah Bar and Lounge s liquor license for 28 days and entertainment license for another 25 days as a result of violations from the evening of Thursday, April 15, into Friday, April 16, that were captured in three videos. The liquor license suspension will occur between Saturday, May 1, and Friday, May 28, and the entertainment license will be suspended from May 1 to June 25. Board member Kathy Amuso motioned to revoke Cohen s liquor license but it was not seconded. I have been having such a challenge dealing with this owner, Senior Sanitarian Andy Cambi said. At this point, it wasn t a mistake, it wasn t a lapse of judgment, clearly it s disregard for the safety standards that have been set by Governor Baker and his administration, that s how I feel personally.

PITTSFIELD â Methuselah Bar & Lounge was hit with a two-day license suspension Monday, after the Licensing Board weighed several complaints about COVID-19 safety at Councilor Yuki Cohenâs North Street establishment over the past several months.
With member Dina Guiel Lampiasi abstaining, the other Licensing Board members â Thomas Campoli, Richard Stockwell, Kathleen Amuso and Dennis Powell â voted unanimously in favor of suspending the liquor license Feb. 2 and 3.
The vote came after members finished a âshow causeâ hearing with Cohen, the at-large councilor, her attorney and the cityâs senior sanitarian, Andy Cambi.
Much of Mondayâs hearing, a continuation of the âshow causeâ hearing that began Jan. 15, was spent discussing the evening of Oct. 30, which was the subject of the third COVID-19 safety citation the city has issued to Cohen.
