PITTSFIELD, Mass. Four ward councilors have announced that they will not seek re-election, leaving space for new leadership in those areas and a changeup of at least a third of the council November. Ward 1 Councilor Helen Moon, in a Facebook video post this week, said the physical and mental strains over the past two years related to the pandemic and her personal and professional life led to her decision not to run for a third term. I thought it was unfair to my constituents that I cannot give myself 150 percent like I try to because of what s happening in my own life, she said. You deserve somebody who is going to put you No. 1 and I cannot give you that.
PITTSFIELD â It wasnât just the bar-top dancing. Repeated infractions before that incident this month at Methuselah Bar & Lounge will cost it a month of operation, followed by another month of curtailed entertainment.
In issuing a penalty Thursday, the Licensing Boardâs chairman noted that while bar owner Yuki Cohen wracked up multiple pandemic-era safety violations, other city establishments closed for good. âThe reason why theyâve gone under is that theyâve complied with Covid orders,â Chairman Thomas Campoli told Cohen and the board.
Sounding off as well were other restaurant and bar owners in Pittsfield, who sought to see Cohenâs license revoked.

The Licensing Board on Thursday unanimously voted to suspend Methuselah Bar and Lounge s liquor license for 28 days and entertainment license for another 25 days as a result of violations from the evening of Thursday, April 15, into Friday, April 16, that were captured in three videos. The liquor license suspension will occur between Saturday, May 1, and Friday, May 28, and the entertainment license will be suspended from May 1 to June 25. Board member Kathy Amuso motioned to revoke Cohen s liquor license but it was not seconded. I have been having such a challenge dealing with this owner, Senior Sanitarian Andy Cambi said. At this point, it wasn t a mistake, it wasn t a lapse of judgment, clearly it s disregard for the safety standards that have been set by Governor Baker and his administration, that s how I feel personally.
Pittsfield At-Large City Councilor and Methuselah Bar and Lounge owner Yuki Cohen is under public scrutiny and then some for violating COVID-19 restaurant protocols three times now.
A video taken inside her bar and lounge shows Cohen dancing atop the bar with patrons all of whom, including Cohen, were not wearing masks. The video was shared by many in the community.
