The Nilgiris district administration has begun conducting thermal check ups for those entering the state through borders in the district. This comes after the Nilgiris recorded five new Covid cases over the last week, even as Karnataka and Kerala are also seeing a surge in Covid cases.

Covid scare in India: India saw a slight increase in COVID infections on Thursday as it witnessed 188 new cases in the last 24 hours according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The country recorded 175 new cases on Wednesday.
