how resilient the american economy is and how resilient the american worker is and that we can take a hit and we can keep on going forward. that s exactly what we re doing. but with the employment rate jumping to 9%, are those job gains all they re being cracked up to be? i m joined by the new york times gretchen morganson, good afternoon. hi, martin. how are you? fine. today s jobs report seems to be a bit confusing. we have an addition of a quarter of a million jobs but the unemployment rate has gone higher. why that disconnect? that simply reflects that there are more people looking to enter the workforce, so it really was a good report as far as the number of people that found work and the jobs that are available, but we are still in the depths of a very, very difficult time for workers. there are 14 million people out of work, and what s called the
