DePaul’s Vice President of Enrollment Management Soumitra Ghosh joined DePaul’s Student Government Association during its general body meeting Thursday providing members with an update about the university’s enrollment numbers for spring and fall 2021.
According to Ghosh, the university will end spring quarter with a total headcount of 19,012 students, which was 97 percent of DePaul’s budgeted goal of 19,597 students but 2.7 percent behind compared to spring quarter last year.
But DePaul’s budgeted goal for this quarter was 3.5 percent lower than that of last year.
Some of DePaul’s colleges have not met DePaul’s budgeted enrollment goals.

DePaul Student Government Association’s (SGA) executive vice presidents presented on the initiatives senators have been working on this past quarter during the last general body meeting of the term on Thursday.
SGA Executive Vice President of Student Affairs Marcus Robertson said Cindy Rocha, SGA’s senator for commuter students, has worked on data collection from commuter students to create a survey asking students about the length of their commute to help commuter students receive priority class registration. In addition, Rocha is collaborating with Courtney James, SGA’s adviser and the director of the Office of Student Involvement, on a podcast discussing the resources offered by University Counseling Services.

Dilpreet Kaur and Jolie Hackney from DePaul’s Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) joined the Student Government Association (SGA) during its general body meeting on Thursday to discuss some of their initiatives and ways the two organizations can work together.
Kaur said PIRG, in its first year at DePaul, is working on four different campaigns involving a new voter project, textbook affordability, combating hunger and homelessness and a 100 percent sustainability campaign.
Looking forward to future elections, Kaur explained that PIRG is focusing on encouraging students to pay attention to local and state politics and that the group is working to get a polling place set up on campus.
