The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) commissioner reported to the Gujarat High Court (HC) that 1,542 units in the city were sealed after a fire tragedy at the Rajkot game zone. The sealed buildings included hospitals, education institutes, malls, hotels, restaurants, furniture shops, and other establishments lacking fire safety measures and necessary permissions.
Deputy commissioner Sakshi Sawhney orders fire safety audit for factories in Ludhiana district to prevent untoward fire incidents. Audit to cover fire exits, alarms, extinguishers, and evacuation procedures. Industries/factories instructed to ensure working fire alarm and hydrant mechanisms. Owners advised not to lock industries from outside during work hours.
