the jury on manafort s case couldn t reach a verdict. that kind of a deal makes sense to prosecutors, cooperate for real, man, give us everything you ve got for real, come totally clean. if you don t, we could always prosecute again on ten more felonies, do you want that? that s exactly the kind of leverage they d like to have? well, today curve ball because the judge from the manafort case, the case where there were these ten outstanding charges where the jury couldn t agree, that judge decided he s not going along with that deal and the plea agreement. surprise, he today told prosecutors and the special counsel s office, basically, hey, you ve got to charge manafort with those ten felony counts now. you ve got to re-try him now or cut bait. i m not waiting until you re done with his cooperation. now, there are a bunch of reasons why this might have happened.
