month. adam klasfeld thank you for the fireworks report. we appreciate it. thank you for having me. donald trump is now facing four different criminal trial dates. the first trial date is march 4th and washington, d. c.. the federal prosecution by special prosecutor jack smith of alleged crimes committed by donald trump leading up to and on january 6th. the next scheduled trial date is march 25th in new york city, when manhattan attorney alvin bragg has charged donald trump with falsifying business records by making secret payoffs to porn star stormy daniels. the next trial date is may 20th in the southern district of florida for violations of the espionage act and illegal possession of classified documents. judge attorney has proposed on august 5th trial date in atlanta georgia in the election fraud conspiracy case against donald trump there but the judge in that case has not yet set the date for trial. on the civil side of defendant trump s docket, he is next civil trial starts
where judge cannon has technically kept that date, but she is going to hear from the parties, she said, in the beginning of march, as to whether that is a feasible date. so i think that case is likely to be pushed off, which, from jack smith s perspective, is probably just fine to have a bigger case, the january 6th case, slot in second. neal, just for a second to consider the possibility of donald trump becoming president again, which i don t think he will, which is why i don t factor that in to my legal analysis of where these cases are going, but in the event that he does, there s only two cases here that, as president, he could basically make disappear, and those are the two federal cases. well, i think that s directly true, lawrence, but i think he would have a pretty good argument that the state cases would have to stop, or if he has been convicted and there s an attempt to try to imprison him or something, that the constitution forbids that. the argument is basically based o
trump did in a court of law, giving trump every benefit of the doubt as our criminal system does, beyond a reasonable doubt, is the highest standard of proof the prosecution has to show. they have to win all 12 jurors, the prosecutors, before trump can be convicted. and yet trump s scared silly that each of these trials, and i expect in the heart of hearts he knows he s guilty. my hope is that these delay tactics ultimately will be successful in these trials will begin and if trump has some sort of good argument for why he s innocent, we haven t heard it yet, in any of these cases, but if you, does more power to him. make the argument, let the american people hear the argument, and let him go. neal, one more before the break as our appeals process expert. assuming it guilty verdicts in both federal trials, in the washington d. c. case in the documents case, how long would you expect the appeals process of those convictions to take? 2 to 3 years, lawrence. what that means, practical
live the longest in a life of defendant trump are probably the civil cases he is facing. he s facing multiple lawsuits by capitol police officers for injuries they suffered on january six. the verdicts in that lawsuit could cost donald trump hundreds of millions of dollars for each injury. civil julian washington d.c. returned a verdict of 100 and $48 million against rudolph giuliani for the defamation of two election workers in georgia. how much would a jury in the same courthouse return in damages to police officers who were nearly beaten to death? the appeals process in civil cases like that can, in effect, be endless. because once defendant trump has exhausted all of his appeals on the merits of the case, the capitol police officers, who might win massive judgments against him, could spend many many more years in
