The Longest Wait | Cigar Aficionado

Share Photo/Gordon Mott The time was right. I hadn’t smoked a cigar in nearly nine weeks, thanks to a mild Covid-19 case followed by weeks of lingering effects that have often left me exhausted, some days with headaches, sinus congestion and the lingering fear that the post-Covid symptoms could go on and on. But my future son-in-law James was here with my daughter Liz, and they had prepared a great meal for my wife and I, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, something we had not been able to do in January while we were both sick with the virus.

So it is with sports records: records set over long tracts of time and not merely over months or a year are often more impressive than records of short duration. The greatest marks aren’t merely the ones most cited in tavern talk or on sports radio. Cigar Trade Associations File for Injunction Against FDA Regulation

Share Share In a legal move to nullify FDA regulation of premium cigars, the cigar industry’s three major trade associations filed a motion for summary judgment and permanent injunction against the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. The injunction accuses the FDA of capriciously violating the Administrative Procedure Act and ignoring key evidence that differentiates premium cigars from other tobacco products. Last week, the Cigar Association of America, the Premium Cigar Association and the Cigar Rights of America jointly filed the motion for summary judgement and permanent injunction before Judge Amit P. Mehta in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The motion asserts that the FDA, which has been authorized to regulate the premium cigar industry since 2016, has failed to acknowledge the crucial differences between premium cigars and other tobacco products such as cigarettes, thereby arbitrarily ignoring the Option 2 proposal, an alternative policy that
