Chennai, May 9 : The fight for the top slot as opposition leader in Tamil Nadu continues unabated between former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) and his Deputy, O. Panneerselvam (OPS) in the AIADMK.
While the supporters of EPS are pitching to make him the opposition leader as they argue that the party won maximum seats from his home turf of Salem where the party won 10 out of the 11 seats at stake. In western Tamil Nadu and northern Tamil Nadu also the writ of EPS ran across the constituencies. Moreover, EPS won his Edappadi seat with a margin of 93,802 votes over his DMK rival Sampath Kumar, which is the highest vote margin of an incumbent Chief minist

With the defeat of Kamal Haasan in his electoral debut, his MNM failed to open the account in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
In the 2016 polls, Amman K. Arjunan of the AIADMK had won the seat, while it had gone to the party s Challenger Dorai in 2011. In this election, there was some friction after the AIADMK s NDA ally, the BJP, was allotted the seat but the matter was resolved.

New Delhi [India], April 5 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil NaduO Panneerselvam, who has been representing the Bodinayakkanur constituency since 2011, is attempting a hat-trick from here in the April 6 assembly election.
Panneerselvam, considered as the most loyal minister of late Jayalalithaa was chosen to follow in Amma s footsteps.
When Jayalalithaa was jailed in 2014, Panneerselvam was anointed chief minister as a stop-gap arrangement.
In the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, AIADMK candidate Paneerselvam retained Bodinayakkanur by a margin of 15, 428 votes. He had also won the seat in the 2011 polls.
