Photo: BCCL After being shut for nearly 11 months in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, colleges on Monday reopened in the rural belts of Thane district. Thane collector Rajesh Narvekar on Sunday released a notification in which all degree and diploma colleges, except for agriculture colleges, were allowed to operate from Monday. The order said only 50 per cent attendance will be allowed in a day and educational institutions will have to strictly follow all COVID-19 prevention guidelines. Also, action will be taken against colleges which are found to be violating regulations and not holding lectures as specified in the order. Narvekar also said that with regard to colleges falling under urban limits, directions of the municipal corporation concerned will be applicable.

As per an official release, district Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde issued directions to reopen schools of all mediums, including ashram schools, which have remained shut since the last 10 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
