we ll go to nbc s priscilla thompson, who s joining me now from outside the uvalde civic center. priscilla, welcome. first of, all have you seen the report? what do you know about it so far? and what are you hearing from parents? good afternoon, alex. we have not yet seen that report. we do expect, however but we do know, i should say, is not for the past several weeks the committee members have been speaking to witnesses, they have been speaking to law enforcement and even visiting the school. in order to compile this report that is supposed to shed light on what exactly went wrong on that day. and all morning, those family members of the victims have been coming here to pick up those reports. walking away with those very thick booklets of information. and they are reviewing that information. because, in just a few hours, they are going to be meeting with the committee members to go over that report. and so, they wanted them to have an opportunity to see it, look at it a

nbc has obtained a copy has already condemned systemic failures and egregious poor decision making on the part of nearly 400 local state and federal law enforcement officers on the scene. at robb elementary on may 4th. let s go to nbc news correspondent, priscilla thompson. priscilla, you ve been in uvalde speaking with parents and anticipating where we may hear from this report that they just released. what are some of the big takeaway so far? one of the things that you already mentioned, the sheer amount of the police presence that was here on that day. we re talking about hundreds of officers from nearly two dozen agencies, from federal, state and local law enforcement. the majority of them where texas department of public safety and border patrol. we are also learning about what happened in regards to the incident command. there was a lot of talk over the past several weeks over the school police chief, pete arredondo, being the incident commander. what is clear in this r

to do. yeah. they go down the hall and leave one of the shields behind, which supposedly was what they were waiting on, was all this equipment. but they still weren t making entry. that s right. they just heard additional shots fired. they still are not making entry. remind you, there have been 37 minutes between the last time we heard gunshots to now. the idea if they thought it was a bierarricaded situation or no longer an active shooter that is triggered, right? and it will be another half an hour before they make entry. i just want to talk about one of the victims, because i spoke to one of the mothers of the kids who survived. she told me her son remembers someone hearing a police officer say, hey, are you inside, do you need help? the kid answers back, yeah, we re in here. then the gunman shoots and kills him. that is happening now. it could have been in this moment. we just don t know. it s very hard to get that kind of specific information out of the c
