New digital packs partnership to support those in Pembrokeshire missing out online

The scheme is for the many people who feel they miss out online A new partnership has been formed to loan electronic devices such as laptops and tablets to support more people to get online and take part in digital activities. The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that much of life has moved online, including staying in contact with loved ones, shopping, pub quizzes or finding out what is happening in your local community. However, many people are missing out as they are not online. To address this, a new partnership has been formed, called Pembrokeshire Digital Connections. This partnership includes Pembrokeshire County Council, Hywel Dda University Health Board and Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services, as well as Digital Communities Wales and several other community partners.

Foster Care Fortnight supported by Welsh artist and Pembrokeshire County Council

Welsh artist Nathan Wyburn wants to celebrate Pembrokeshire’s foster carers this Foster Care Fortnight, as County Hall in Haverfordwest lights up in orange to highlight what they do. While most people have had family and friends there to support them during difficult times faced over the last year, many children and young people across Wales need that support more than ever before. Pembrokeshire County Council is calling on more people in Pembrokeshire to consider fostering as we enter Foster Care Fortnight, between May 10 and May 24. With this year’s theme being ‘#WhyWeCare,’ Welsh artist Nathan Wyburn, who is known for his unique methods of creating art, has produced a piece using LED lights to help prove how any house can become a safe and loving home.

Plea for patience as Pembrokeshire care homes consider indoor visits

Jonathan Griffiths, director of social services and housing, said: “We welcome the First Minister’s announcement which will support families to reconnect following an incredibly difficult time for residents and their loved ones. “However we must proceed with caution and the public are asked to please remain patient while our care homes carefully consider and plan implementation during the coming days and weeks.” Cllr Tessa Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Social Services, said: “It is such good news that relatives will soon be able to visit their loved ones indoors at care homes and we understand how eager people will be to arrange these visits as soon as possible.
