$150K in grants awarded to 15 Flint small businesses by GM, Flint chamber Updated Mar 16, 2021; FLINT, MI - General Motors and the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce have awarded $150,000 to 15 small businesses in Flint as part of the Moving Flint Forward Small Business Grant Program. More than 80 local businesses applied for the grants that were announced back in Dec. of 2020. The applications were evaluated by a panel consisting of representatives from GM, the Flint & Genesee Chamber, the city of Flint, local grant-making organizations, community organizations, as well as a past recipient of the grant. “We’re thrilled to extend our support of this innovative program into a second year,” said Terry Rhadigan, GM’s executive director of corporate giving. “The Moving Flint Forward Small Business Grant Program is successful because it helps small businesses build resilience and create inclusive and sustainable solutions to common problems.”

Detroit Council wants a 2021 auto show to remain in Motor City

Detroit  The battle to keep the auto show in the Motor City isn t over yet.  City Council on Tuesday sent a resolution to a committee for review. It urges the Detroit Auto Dealers Association to reconsider relocating the North American International Auto Show  from the TCF Center in 2021 and continue its sustained presence in Detroit, by honoring the contract it signed in 2018 to hold the show in Cobo (now the TCF Center), each year through 2026. The resolution must be approved by the Neighborhood and Community Services Committee before being voted on my the whole council. A resolution doesn t require any commitment from the DADA, which runs the auto show.
