The development comes at a time when SpaceX is gearing to roll out its high-speed satellite broadband services in India next year. The company s director (market access with the Starlink program) Matt Botwin said, SpaceX is excited to find ways to work together with the Indian industry for manufacturing products for its Starlink devices.

On offer was over 2,308 megahertz (MHz) of spectrum valued for the auction by the government at ₹3.92 lakh crore, and bids were successfully received for 37% or 855.6 MHz. The auction lasted less than two days.

It was the first spectrum auction in five years. The government said that the response was better than they had expected. The registrations for the applications to offer these services will be rolled out in the first week of January. “C-DoT, the technology development centre of the DoT, is working to make ‘Wi-Fi access boxes’ widely available at around half the market price and we should open the registration process by the first week of next year,” said Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash.
