The district administration on Tuesday ordered the closure of seven government schools in Ferozepur and 10 in Fazilka till July 29 due to continuous rain in certain border villages.
The health department claimed that it had sent 15 days advance diet for the pregnant, lactating mothers and kids (aged six months to three years) in the flood-affected villages. This included 'dalia', roasted gram, 'chana daal' and 'mithi fulliyan'.
The district heads of Ferozepur and Fazilka have asked the villagers living along the Sutlej River to stay alert. The villagers were asked to shift to higher places or to relief camps, but they decided to stay put.
