The apex court judgment on Zakia Jafri's plea has made the victims of the alleged state-sponsered violence lonely, threatening them against seeking the help of human rights workers.
A Gujarat court on Sunday remanded activist Teesta Setalvad to Police custody till July 2 in a case relating to fabricating false evidence and forgery.
The arrest comes less than a day after the Supreme Court held that there were no grounds to investigate Modi and that the petitioners had engaged in an "abuse of process" by pursuing this matter for so many years.
Setalvad has been taken into custody and detained at the Santacruz police station. She will be shortly taken to Gujarat, where she will be produced before a Judicial Magistrate.
