Chevelle Kenney is a senior at Homer-Center High School. She lives with her mom, Misty, and her mom’s boyfriend, Brandon. She also has a sister, Aidan, and three cats.
Century High School senior Alex Kindem has been performing with Sleepy Hollow Theatre since she was a freshman. In 2019, she received the Lundberg Legacy Leadership Award for her outstanding work dedication to the program.
Sleepy Hollow Artistic Director Job Ethan Christenson said working with Kindem has been one of the highlights of his educational theater career.
âAlex has immense talent, but her dedication to her work in all aspects is what makes her a standout,â Christenson wrote in a letter of recommendation. âShe understands group effort and she also has an instinct for being a leader.â
The daughter of John and Tracy Kindem, of Bismarck, is this week s Teen of the Week. Thirty-two high school seniors will be recognized by spring, at which time a Teen of the Year will be selected from the weekly winners to receive a $5,000 scholarship sponsored by MDU Resources Group.
While taking an agriculture class his freshman year, Mandan High School senior Taylen Thomas was invited to an FFA event. After the event, he decided to join and served as the chapterâs reporter, vice president and current president.
FFA adviser Tanasha Wanner said Thomas takes pride in his chapter and is eager to help out his fellow members and his community through volunteering.
âHe is an exemplary leader, always setting expectations for himself and his chapter that he reaches to exceed,â Wanner wrote in a letter of recommendation. âHe is a well-poised young man who has a bright future in anything he sets his mind to.
Bismarck High School senior Brooke Burgard has been involved with Key Club for the past four years. From hosting food drives to organizing charity walks, Burgard said she enjoys being able to give back.
âI like how we are able to impact our community and our school,â Burgard said. âItâs great being a part of a team that can help enrich more lives around us.â
