CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination rolloutin Northern Mindanao (Region 10) for children who are 5 to 11 years old will officially start on February 14. In an online update Wednesday, Dr. Ellenieta Gamolo, Department of Health-10 (DOH-10) assistant director, said the vaccination rollout will start in hospitals and will eventually be conducted in the different local government unit (LGU)-managed vaccination sites. She also confirmed that the launching of the February 14 vaccination in this city will be held at the SM Downtown Premier and the city government-managed JR Borja General Hospital. On February 15, the pediatric vaccination rollout will also be launched at the Centrio Ayala Mall and the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral grounds. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The city government on Tuesday announced the recovery and eventual discharge from confinement of 144 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients from different hospitals here. In an online briefer. Dr. Ted Yu Jr, city health office (CHO) medical officer, said three of the discharged patients were from the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC); and one from a Covid-19 facility in San Simon village, which is also under the supervision of NMMC. The rest of the 140 patients were discharged from different infirmaries. With the huge single-day recovery of patients, Yu said Covid-19 cases admitted in hospitals decreased to 642 from 786. "In the different hospitals, the discharging process has been fast because most of the cases are mild," Yu said. Mayor Oscar Moreno commended the effort of the hospitals and expressed hope that the reduction in admitted patients will have a big impact on the city's total bed utilization rate for Covid-19 cases. In an online briefer Monday, Mayor Oscar Moreno said one of the malls situated in CM Recto Avenue, has already committed to having a designated place for the children's immunization activity. "The SM Mall has a plan to use their children's corner for the pediatric vaccination," he said.
