CDO monitors 121 Omicron close contacts

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The City Health Office (CHO) here has intensified the monitoring of the first-generation close contacts of the second batch of people infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus disease 2019. In an online briefer Thursday, CHO medical officer Dr. Ted Yu Jr. said they have identified 121 first-generation close contacts of the recently reported 32 Omicron cases in the city. Yu said none of the close contacts, as of the moment, are experiencing Acute Respiratory Illnesses (ARI) or Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI). Mayor Oscar Moreno stressed the need for intensive monitoring of close contacts even if it has been more than a month since they got infected. "It's been a month already but nonetheless we should continue (the monitoring). The best thing of our contact tracing, validation, and assessment will actually serve as good reference material for the report to Philippine Genome Center when it comes to the variants," Moreno said. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The city health office (CHO) here has labeled 54 positive cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as "hard extraction" or those who preferred to isolate at home despite the local government's call to avail of the services in isolation facilities. In an online briefer Wednesday, CHO medical officer Dr. Ted Yu Jr. said the patients were already urged by the local government to get isolated in the Covid-19 designated isolation facility to ensure safety and prevent the possible localized transmission of the virus. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Twenty-nine out of the 32 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) Omicron variant cases here have recovered, the city health office (CHO) reported Tuesday. In an online briefer, Dr. Ted Yu Jr., CHO medical officer, said the remaining three also tested negative in their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests but are still awaiting official release orders. He said of the 32 Omicron cases - 21 females and 11 males - 31 are local cases and one is a returning overseas Filipino (ROF). Yu said five of the cases are from Balulang village; three cases from the villages of Kauswagan, Nazareth, Iponan, and Cugman; and two cases each from the villages of Patag, Carmen, Macabalan, and Gusa. During the weekly flag-raising Monday, Dr. Jerie Calingasan, provincial health officer and the provincial anti-Covid-19 task force chief, said this will provide a quick medical response for children who may experience severe side effects.
