I also dont understand why the landlord and tenant need to disclose their private negotiations about their homes to the city and then have that information be publicly available. And if you do not file the form on time, the city and others can sue you for 100 a day plus attorney fees. As supervisor campos said about the soda tax, there is an element to all of this that seems just a bit big brotherish to me. Leadership institute and other grassroots organizations have done Great Research door to door, door knocking and advocacy. I wanted to acknowledge not only our former youth commissioner louisa c [speaker not understood] from the south of market area but also amanda from the sunset, malaysia funders, some of you may have seen advocating on different issues from the bayview Hunters Point area. Many of them kind of were from various high schools but also city college, San Francisco state as they were advocating and organizing for this piece of legislation. I wanted to also say that this ordinance specifically would amend the health code to include a cap on the number of allowable tobacco permits in each of the citys 11 supervisorial districts. While no existing permit will be taken away, a new permit would only be allowed in a district after the number of permits in that district has over time reached a cap of 45 permits. In addition, new permits have to be located at least 500 feet away
Moh would determine if they were interested in participating in the program and exploring possible alternative financing models. I do think we have in our capacity in the Mayors Office has in its capacity to provide the framework for what could be a new program. Its been plenty years to think about it. I think one more weeks time shouldnt be too much to ask for them to come in and provide that idea what they can do when they come next week if you are able to accept this amendment of the whole and offer to continue this item to next tuesday. And i learned a lot about leadership from teds style. We have a lot of a naziing and brilliant leaders in our city and i think i might say many of them frustrate us every day. We agree with them, but they might drive us nuts. Ted was not one of them. He was an unbelievably kind, gentle and decent soul. And in a city political environmental, he exemplified humility, humbleness. He was gentle while he was fierce. And i think its really hard to imagine the tenants world and progressive politics in San Francisco without ted gul acson. And i know many of us, we are celebrating our giants this month. But i think we also know that we are all mourning for and celebrating a true giant for tenants and for San Francisco who is an incredible champion for san franciscans.
