Northwestern before spending time working in washington, d. C. As a congressional staffer and then moved onto the university of virginia where he studied under gary gallagher, published his dissertation with the university of North Carolina press. The book is excintitled why confederates fought, family and nation in civil war virginia. His most recent book the calculus of violence, how americans fought the civil war just again published in 2018. Aaron at lsu is a great place for him. Of course being in baton rouge and not far from new orleans, hes a selfproclaimed foodie so he has lots of places to select from down in new orleans. Today hell talk about his very important book that has received two recent awards, including the Jefferson Davis award from formerly the museum of the confederacy and now the American Civil War museum i believe in richmond. Everybody, i allow the testimony of a ghost to be allowed into the legal court documents. Order, order, everybody order so he hits the gavel. The jury deliberates for an hour and ten minutes. The jury foreman comes back and is like, despite any concrete evidence, what we did hear is this ghost testimony, and were buying it, and because of that, this guy is guilty. They dont have any doubt. The judge is like, hes sentenced to a life in prison. And mary jane breathes a sigh of relief. [relieved sigh] [bleep] finally.
