Sitting taking pictures of both of us even when i dont want to. Dagen i am guilty of it on a rare occasion. But as somebody pointed out on twitter once, when a chick takes a selfportrait and posted on twitter or facebook, she has taken 5075 to get that one good one. I posted some of it on instagram. Connell at the top of the hour, the dow back above 16,000, Nicole Petallides on the floor of the new york Stock Exchange. Nicole dial 16,000 is back. The s p 500 at 1793, so not quite back at the 1800 mark. They are not a big deal to traders, they look at other things like resistance levels, those of the kind of things they are looking at, however if you are a bowl out there, six straight weeks of gains, a winning week, the nasdaq and s p are down. Overall the momentum seems to be to the upside, though the fix does have a slight up arrow. Also watching campbell soups. Look at what it is doing now. The stock is down almost 6 at 39. 38. They cut their fouryear product outlook, and they have p
Make is that also critical to dealing with these set of enduring challenges is the continued economic and technological leadership of the United States, which as former secretary gates and others have said, is National Security imperative for us. Now i would like to talk a little bit about the relationship between intelligence and National Security. We always say its the first line of defense. This time going forward, we really do mean it. The benefits that it gives us is it informs our National Security policy. If youre the president and top advisers and trying to make sense of this wide array of challenges, intelligence is the first thing you need to have to understand the world in which youre dealing with. Then for our operators and war fighters, our intelligence capabilities enable what we call Intelligence Driven precision operation. When directed by the president , the Intelligence Community provides additional options in between diplomacy and the overt use of military force. The
One of the things i would like to leave you with is the tremendous change thats taken place in our intelligence capabilities over the past decade, and even greater change that we foresee looking forward. One of the aspects of this is the revolutionary impact Precision Targeting has had across our intelligence enterprise, whether its in Counterterrorism Operations, whether its in cyber operations, or classic human intelligence and espionage. To illustrate this, i would like to tell a joke that my former boss, secretary bob gates used to love to tell about the old way we did business. Many, many years ago, supposedly, an Intelligence Officer was working in a foreign capital at a diplomatic cocktail party, trolling the Diplomatic Service as we often do, looking for hard targets and unfortunately this officer had a little too much to drink. So his mission attention wandered a little bit towards more amorous pursuits. Across the room, he spotted what he saw was a vision of loveliness in a f
Senator or house member. And so this is Something Else that we strongly recommend. Host our guest is Henry Bonilla. Former congressman, served in congress until 2007, representing texas. Number for republicans is 2025853881. For democrats, 2025853880. And independents, 2025853882. Wonder if you talk to us a little bit about how this report and your recommendations are being received in congress today. Guest we havent had any strong feedback yet. Sometimes it take as while for messages to get into the leadership office. The former senators that led this, this on their side have already communicated with the Senate Leadership but no strong reaction yet. The house side. But were hoping that at least someone listens to us because at this point were not aware of anyone who is put together a set of recommendations like this anywhere. So, if half of them are implemented that would beik a he success. If one or two, hey, great. Butge were realistic about this most of us who worked on this have
One flaw with your argument is t makes the words it may happen superfluous, that the clause would mean exactly what you say it means if you took those words out. And your response, the only one i could see on the reply, your reply brief, page 13, is that those words were put in there to, quote, confine the president to filling vacancies that actually exist at the time of appointment. Now, is that did you really think they put that language in there because they were afraid the president would fill appointments that dont exist . I dont know why they put the language in there, mr. Chief justice, but it doesnt it isnt superfluous because it does serve that function one reason is because they were afraid otherwise the president would have the power, simply, when somebody died two or three years before and theyve had a big fight in congress to save up all the controversial nominations and then put them through as recess appointments. That could be one thing they didnt want to happen. I dont
