ROGERS CITY Team Rogers City is a champion for its small town and works hard to promote and develop it. At last week’s meeting, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist joined via Zoom teleconferencing to share his thoughts on the progress made in Rogers City. Gilchrist said Rogers City should be an example to other cities. The way the community comes together to accomplish things is how progress is made, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gilchrist said. “I want to thank you for the community connections you have made in Rogers City, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and I know communities are stronger when they are connected,” Gilchrist said. “When we come together, we can do better, and we have seen that obviously in Rogers City, and across the state, over the last 13 months.”

Each one focuses on a county along highway that runs along the Lake Huron shoreline. They include local attractions, business, events, and recreational opportunities in them. The Heritage Trail has increased tourism in Northeast Michigan, local officials say. ROGERS CITY– The U.S.-23 Heritage Route has brought many people who live outside of Northeast Michigan to the diverse communities in it. Hopes are the program will continue to expand and include more information and recommendations.

An Alpena News editorial Economic development outfit Team Rogers City recently told the community of four new downtown projects nearing completion: ∫ A new assisted care home, The Brook, recently opened. ∫ Woodland Confectionary, a candy store that will showcase local flavors, inspiration, and ingredients, is in the process of opening. ∫ Harborside Bath & Body, a Bath and Body Works-type store, should be open full-time in early 2021, but currently offers some products in the Northern Espresso shop downtown. ∫ The Mayberry, a wedding and event venue, is planned for the former site of the A.J. Super Service car dealership. The earliest years of any business are the make-or-break years for entrepreneurs, so we encourage residents from across Northeast Michigan to make a trip to those establishments once they’re up and running and support local businesses.
